What is dynamic DNS?
Home internet connections usually get an IP address that changes now and then. Dynamic DNS keeps a hostname pointed at your current IP, so you can always reach your home even after the address changes.
Do I need a static IP?
No — that is exactly the problem KeepDNS solves. It is built for connections whose IP changes.
Does it work if I am behind CGNAT?
If your provider puts you behind CGNAT you have no public inbound IP, and dynamic DNS alone cannot make you reachable — that is a limitation of the connection, not of KeepDNS. You can check with your provider whether a public IP is available.
Which routers are supported?
Any router with a DynDNS/DDNS option that lets you set a custom provider — FRITZ!Box, ASUS, Synology, Ubiquiti, pfSense, OPNsense and more. You can also use ddclient or a simple cron job.
What does it cost?
KeepDNS is free for six months, then €2 per month. You can cancel anytime.
